Infections / Biotoxin Testing

Our bodies are home to trillions of bugs! However, when does the scale tip from being in balance and living in communion with each other to being considered a pathology or a problem? This is obviously a complicated question and one that is intertwined with each patient’s perspective of health, lifestyle and active symptoms. Below are a list of specialty tests that are frequently ordered by Sound Clinic practitioners when they are suspicious that the underlying cause of persistent symptoms may be related to underlying infections and/or biotoxins.

Mosaic Diagnostics Organic Acids Test (OAT)

The Organic Acids Test (OAT) offers a comprehensive metabolic snapshot of a patient’s overall health with 76 markers. It provides an accurate evaluation of intestinal yeast and bacteria. Abnormally high levels of these microorganisms can cause or worsen behavior disorders, hyperactivity, movement disorders, fatigue and immune function. Many people with chronic illnesses and neurological disorders often excrete several abnormal organic acids in their urine. The cause of these high levels could include oral antibiotic use, high sugar diets, immune deficiencies, acquired infections, as well as genetic factors. Learn More.

Doctor’s Data Heavy Metal Testings

Elements are the basic building blocks of all chemical compounds, and human exposure to them occurs both from natural and anthropogenic sources. Many elements are considered nutrients and are essential for the proper functioning of the body. These are generally divided between macrominerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium and zinc, and trace minerals including selenium, iodine, boron and molybdenum.

  • Conversely, there are a number of elements that are toxic to the human body, interfere with its functioning and undermine health—such as mercury, lead, cadmium, aluminum, and arsenic. These toxic metals have no known physiological functions. They can be toxic to organ systems and may disrupt the balance of essential nutrients. Toxic metals and essential element status can be assessed in urine, blood, feces and hair.
