Our Complex Care Team specializes in evaluating and treating these challenging cases. Rather than focusing on a single diagnosis, we take a comprehensive, systems-based approach to identify the many factors that may be contributing to illness. These can include chronic infections, immune dysfunction, mold and environmental exposures, metabolic health, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, and other underlying contributors.
The concepts of chronic infection and toxic burden are familiar to many Functional Medicine practitioners. However, caring for patients with more complex, treatment-resistant illnesses often requires a deeper evaluation of overlapping and sometimes controversial contributors to disease.
While many people associate this area of medicine with terms like “Lyme” or “Mold,” we believe those labels can be limiting. Our approach extends beyond any single diagnosis to evaluate the full picture of complex chronic illness. For this reason, we refer to this specialty as our Complex Care Team—a multidisciplinary approach focused on identifying and addressing the many factors that may be contributing to persistent symptoms.
In our experience, effective and cost-efficient treatment for chronic infections often involves a combination of prescription medications and botanical agents with antimicrobial properties. We utilize Autonomic Response Testing (ART) as a diagnostic tool. ART helps identify difficult-to-diagnose microbes and provides insight into the most effective and well-tolerated interventions for each patient. Please note that ART sessions are not billable to insurance; however, the first ART session is complimentary.
