Shauntae Murphy
Physician Assistant - Certified
Shauntae Murphy is a board-certified physician assistant and a Colorado native. She received her BS degree from Colorado State University with a Major in Health and Exercise Science. Following graduation she earned over 2,000 hours of direct patient-care experience working in the field of cardiology as a medical assistant, cardiac rehabilitation, and performing exercise stress tests. She moved to Durham, NC in 2004 to attend the Physician Assistant Program at Duke University. After a decade of working in conventional medicine, Shauntae felt drawn to a more holistic approach to wellness and completed a fellowship through the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona from 2016-2018. The Integrative Medicine Fellowship program not only changed her view of medicine but also her perspective on her and her family’s health. Since 2018, Shauntae has enjoyed practicing integrative and functional medicine and seeing how this approach benefits her patients long-term. She continues to broaden her knowledge through functional and longevity medical conferences through AMMG, A4M and AWCIM.
Shauntae’s approach to medicine is holistic- that to optimize wellness, the body, mind, and soul must all be addressed. She believes that good medicine is based on sound science with the patient, not the disease, as the focus of healing. Shauntae utilizes both her foundational background in conventional medicine as well as her additional training in integrative medicine to improve her patient’s health by treating the root cause of their concerns. Shauntae enjoys treating a multitude of health concerns including hormone replacement, thyroid health, gut dysbiosis, integrative mental health, sleep health, environmental toxins, IV therapies, and nutritional guidance and weight loss. She is committed to partnering with her patients on their wellness journey.
