What inspired you to pursue a career in integrative medicine?
“I worked in the ICU for most of my career. I saw a lot of reactive medicine and interventions initiated that didn’t consider quality of life. I believe in feeling optimal and living optimally…seeing the opposite was my inspiration to guide people.
Also, meeting Sarah Tyler-she was my inspiration for working in the integrative world. She was so knowledgeable, cool, calm and collected. So thank you, Sarah!!”
What’s your go-to healthy snack or favorite comfort food?
“I love cucumbers and hummus. And crunchy Cheetos to balance it out. And homemade cookies too.”
What’s one thing most people don’t know about your role?
“It requires a lot of self learning, especially in terms of hormones. It is not the standard that is taught in school and therefore requires a passion to explore alternatives and deviations from the standard. You are constantly learning.”
What’s a quote or mantra that motivates you?
“Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.”
“The more I know, the less I know.”

What inspired you to pursue a career in integrative medicine?
“Growing up my mom always wanted to treat us with homeopathics and supplements and my dad always thought Amoxicillin was the answer to childhood illness. As I grew up I learned there was a place for both and really liked learning about how to best support a family’s health through both the best conventional medicine has to offer and the best that integrated medicine has to offer. Living in Tanzania as a child and experiencing the reality of so many children orphaned by HIV in the 90’s and early 2000 also motivated me to care for kids as I was growing up.”
What’s your go-to healthy snack or favorite comfort food?
“Trader Joe’s dark chocolate covered almonds with turbinado sugar and sea salt”

What’s a quote or mantra that motivates you?
“Do unto others as you would like to be treated.”
